Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Bonnie Low-Kramen, Founder and CEO of Ultimate Assistant Training & Consulting Inc, located in Ponte Vedra, FL, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am an international speaker, trainer, corporate consultant, and author committed to working with leaders and the staff to build an ultimate new workplace. My customers are businesses large and small that hire me to train their teams and speak at their workplace conferences.
Tell us about yourself
For 25 years, I worked as the Personal Assistant to Oscar-winning actress Olympia Dukakis. That work led to writing "Be the Ultimate Assistant" and to being invited to speak in 14 countries. My audiences talked back to me, and their stories became the basis for my new book, "Staff Matters." I am keenly aware that There is too much going unspoken in the workplace. We need to reveal what is really going on to fix what's broken, knowing that the long-term solutions will be found with the staff themselves. By giving a voice to all staff, I am committed to building an ultimate new workplace for our children and grandchildren, the staff of the future.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I have become a globally known thought leader and expert on workplace issues and have written two books on the subject.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things about being a business owner is having to be brutally honest about the skills I don't possess in order to find the experts to execute what needs to be done. The buck stops with me.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Define the tasks you love doing and that only you can do. Define the tasks you are not good at and don't enjoy. Delegate and hire out the second list.
- Hire an assistant. If you don't have an assistant, you are one.
- Find your A-team of mentors to provide ongoing honest feedback.
