What's your business, and who are your customers?

BodyMindPilates is a boutique health and wellness studio. We offer private Pilates on the apparatus, Thai yoga bodywork, Reiki, and meditative virtual reality sessions. We focus on re-training the body to work most efficiently to decrease pain and increase wellness and joy.

Tell us about yourself

I did Pilates as part of my training as a dancer in college, and when I graduated and moved to San Francisco to begin to dance professionally, I was hit by a truck riding my bike. Pilates was the only modality that got me dancing again, and that’s how I began my Pilates journey. I love helping people learn about their bodies and teaching them efficient ways to realign themselves, become stronger and leaner, and have fun doing it. I foster a community studio where clients become friends with each other and motivate each other to keep coming back.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I’ve been able to work independently for myself for over twenty-five years, all across the country.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Making consistent money.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Be certain that you are passionate about your field, build your self-esteem as you will face much criticism and often failure, and never give up your dream.
