What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm an Integrated Health Practitioner, and I work online as a health coach. I develop a detailed wellness plan that includes bio-individualized nutrition, exercise, stress management, toxin removal, sleep management, supplements, and mental/emotional balancing. I can help anybody with weight loss, hormonal imbalances, thyroid imbalances, and digestive issues. I can also use functional medicine tests to individualize wellness plans further.

Tell us about yourself

I've sought after wellness my entire life as I have always felt unwell since childhood. I've been diagnosed with a myriad of health problems, including CNS neuralgia, IBS, ulcerative colitis, duodenal ulcer, fibromyalgia, and SIBO. As such, my entire life was spent studying the cornerstones of wellness which are nutrition, exercise, supplements, stress management & a success-focused mindset. See more at bmswellness.org.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have been self-employed since the age of 23. At 42, I was a single mom of an 8-year-old boy who never received child support. Yet, I managed to go back to school to become an osteopathic manual practitioner. I graduated 4 years later, and our lives changed drastically forever!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Learning to stop working, take time to relax, and even spoil yourself! Don't make every minute of every day all about your clients.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Read as much as possible on the topic of interest, and the focus of the business. Take courses from accredited institutions if such things exist for your business model.
  2. Learn to work with your mind and subconscious mind. Read books such as "The Power of Positive Thinking" by Norman Vincent Peale, "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie, "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle, and anything else that helps keep your mind firmly focused on your goals.
  3. Learn to listen to the Universe via meditation, paying attention to small signs such as animal visits, repeating numbers, and synchronicities.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Love and passion can not be faked. You can not act your way through those feelings anymore. Potential clients will pick up contradicting feelings from you and may not trust you enough to buy what you're selling. As such, ensure to only do what makes your soul sing and your heart dance! Take that activity, whatever that may be, and engage as much as possible while you discover ways to convert that into an income. If you remain open and receptive, the Universe will show you the way through a whisper! Just listen closely!
