Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nikita Jhaveri, co-founder of Blush, located in Lone Tree, CO, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Blush was created to help bridge the gap between Beauty Service Professionals and Clients who are in need of on-location beauty services that are restricted by time and everyday priorities. We offer hair and makeup services for anything from corporate events, weddings, headshots, or even a blowout to get you through the day! I think it is fair to say that everyone would love to have an extra 10 minutes in their day. Blush creates the opportunity to have beauty services done wherever you are, saving you time and energy.
Tell us about yourself
I am a mom of two boys, a wife, and a workaholic! I started working on this business a couple of years ago, realizing there are several women out there like me that prioritize everything and everyone else in front of myself. To do my hair and makeup became a chore. I am motivated to give time back to moms, women entrepreneurs, and others by making beauty convenient for them. The comments after having a Blush experience are always how much time they saved or how confident they felt; this is what drives me every day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is learning all the different jobs when you own a business. From accounting, finance, marketing, and operations, it was important for me to understand all of these tasks thoroughly, so I felt like I knew my business in and out. Now I feel like I can wear multiple hats and be successful doing it....for now, haha.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The failures. I have always struggled with the concept of failing; even if a client decides to go another route, I take it as a failure. To overcome that obstacle has been tough for me to do, but I realize it always creates a new opportunity.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have mentors to guide you when through your wins and losses.
- Don't give up; persistence is key.
- Create a tribe to support you. Whether it is your family, friends, women's groups, etc., have a group of people to be your hype team.
