Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in photography but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Azadeh D., Photographer and Founder of Bloomlight Photography, located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Bloomlight Photography. Families with small children, newborns, and pregnant moms.
Tell us about yourself
At first, I wasn't even thinking of having a business, but then I saw people showing interest in having me take their family pictures, so gradually, I started to learn everything about the business, marketing, photography, bookkeeping... Every day is a learning opportunity for me, and I am constantly thinking about what I can do next ...
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
There were some photography sessions that I was dreaming about, and it was so hard reaching out. Then I could do it with lots of planning and hardworking.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I am responsible for everything. I am an owner, photographer, marketer, social media manager, and administrator.... And also I have a personal life too. Having and keeping a nice balance between these two is tricky and not easy.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Believe in yourself. There are no boundaries to what you can achieve, and you just go for more. For those who have already started and want to grow: work/life balance. And no matter where you are in business, try to give your client a nice experience.
