What's your business, and who are your customers?

Black Theorem is a consulting firm specializing in diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), entrepreneurship, and entertainment. Our clients range from Fortune 500 companies to Higher Education institutions to small businesses.

Tell us about yourself

I initially started doing this work as an independent consultant and contractor. After much upward success, I launched Black Theorem in 2020. What motivates me to do this work every day is that I get to impact companies that shape the world we live in positively.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The biggest accomplishment I have had as a business owner is using the company's revenue to support marginalized youth around the country. I provide resources, opportunities, and exposure to those in need. I was one of those kids, and I'm grateful that being a business owner allows me to give back.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is staying knowledgeable and current. The world, business climate, and technological advances change rapidly. To be successful at running a business, you cannot be rigid or too slow to pivot in the face of uncertainty.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Research the industry you want to be in and stay abreast.
  2. Save financially and learn how to invest in yourself.
  3. Create a diversified network of professionals.
