Tell us about yourself and your journey to where you are today...
Floral Design and Event Decor - we are one of the only Minority - particularly black-owned floral businesses in the Halton Region. We cater to everyone and anyone looking for quality florals and decor on every budget. We specialize in bridal party florals, micro-weddings, and private events.
What motivates you each day?
I was self-taught, essentially. My mother was an avid gardener and floral expert. She taught me the basics regarding proper flower and soil care and the importance of arrangement and landscape design, bouquet themes, and holiday decor and vase selection. She gave me lifelong lessons in floristry. Last year's passing sparked a real drive in me to honor her legacy and channel my creativity and passion for florals and event decor. Everything seemed to happen organically, and LILAC Floral Design was born.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Honestly, my most significant accomplishment to date has been successfully launching and making a presence for myself among my community and circles as a legit floral entrepreneur and making the right new connections that can catapult this brand to endless opportunities. I'm excited and passionate to make my mark and collaborate with others as well.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Time-Management and multi-tasking, and resisting the urge to want to take on everything. Balance and baby steps are finely tuned skills for me at times:)
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to launch, run and grow a business today?
Fine-tune your craft. Know your customers and find a mentor.
