What's your background and motivation to grow as a solopreneur?

I decided I wanted to do orthodontics and dentistry when I was 12 years old. I loved teeth and smiles. I have been a general dentist for 25 years, and I still love what I do. I love helping people get healthy and getting their mouths pain-free. I also love getting their smiles beautiful. A smile can change everything. A beautiful smile brings confidence to the person who has it, and then they use it and make others smile. A smile is contagious.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have run a successful practice on my own for the past 17 years. I have a high work-life balance, and I pride myself on having a happy dental team and like coming to work.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a solopreneur?

Computer issues. We just updated our computers, and it was challenging. All the new software and new updates etc. were time-consuming and challenging for all my team members. Managing the day-to-day numbers and staff while being in charge of and delivering all patient care.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run or grow a small business today?

Make sure you have enough capital. Make sure you have a business plan and focused goals. Do not over-extend yourself. Be conservative with your finances and put your money back into the business. It will take care of you.

I love my job, and I love my business.
