Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Beth Adoette, Artist, Writer, and Eco-Art Wellness Facilitator located in Pawtucket, RI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am an artist, writer, and Eco-Art Wellness Facilitator dedicated to helping people see beauty in the natural world and in themselves as we explore our connection through nature and art. To do this, I design and facilitate innovative Eco-Art Wellness Workshops, as well as create contemplative nature-inspired art, cards, prints, books, calendars, and puzzles.

The people I connect with are curious about the natural world and have an appreciation for beauty. I believe that curiosity, openness, and the desire to pay attention have the ability to change ourselves and the world in beautiful and profound ways.

Tell us about yourself

I began my artistic career as an editorial illustrator but left that world while I raised a family. Thirty years later, I began a new artistic adventure that has taken me back to my roots, combining my love of nature, art, and introspection. In addition to my degree in fine arts, I am certified in Eco-Art Therapy.

I am continually amazed by the gentle yet powerful impact that the combination of art and nature can have on the people I work with. It keeps me moving forward. Nature shares its beauty with unconditional generosity, and we begin to understand we are all connected, all necessary, and all loved.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is creating of Eco-Art Wellness workshops that are unlike anything I have seen elsewhere. They are not just about making beautiful art; they are about exploring specific subjects to help us learn about ourselves and our place in this world. I am so blessed to be a part of that catalyst for change!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing is remembering to stay true to your inner voice and trusting your unique gifts completely at every stage of the journey, even when the pressures and voices in the world encourage us to forget who we are created to be.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Look deep, deep inside, for inspiration, and stay true to your gifts and inner voice.
  2. Don’t waste time on side projects that will distract from your main goals.
  3. Be organized and be aware of all expenses, even the small stuff.
