Transformational Coaching - Ben Schwarcz
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health & wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ben Schwarcz, Founder of Ben Schwarcz Transformational Coaching, located in Santa Rosa, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I'm a licensed psychotherapist and a trauma-informed coach specializing in somatic and energy medicine modalities for emotional healing. My approaches include EFT Tapping, Psychedelic Somatic Interactional Psychotherapy (PSIP), and Transformational Breathwork. I also have developed methods to address Ancestral Trauma (Intergenerational Trauma) and provide relationship counseling and Transpersonal Psychotherapy.
My customers are primarily adults, many entrepreneurs seeking to overcome mental and emotional blocks to success. I also see many people struggling to overcome various forms of emotional trauma, who find themselves stuck in related patterns and relationships in their life that keep them from living fully and authentically.
Tell us about yourself
I have been an explorer of consciousness since my teens. My father was a Holocaust Survivor and silently suffered his unresolved traumas, having never had the proper help to unburden his mind from the horrors he suffered. My mother was also a survivor of emotional trauma and neglect as a child. So it was always an instinctive tendency in me to seek methods of liberating myself and those I love from emotional suffering. I've been a counselor and therapist for over 30 years - my entire adult life.
I worked in treatment centers and psychiatric hospitals for many years. Still, my work and my passion for healing blossomed after my second child was born, and I quit my hospital job to go into full-time private practice. I love helping people to experience the magic of transformation by releasing long-standing emotional pain and awakening parts of themselves that have been hidden or dormant. Watching people become more joyful, free, and more connected to their true selves is profoundly satisfying for me.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
As a business owner, my biggest accomplishment has been overcoming fear and limited thinking and allowing myself to become visible. This has led to stability in my workflow and trust in my ability to attract clients aligned with my work.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Overcoming fear of scarcity and fully recognizing the value of what I have to offer my clients.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Don't do what's "practical" or what others suggest you do unless you truly feel called to do a particular type of work. Do it for the joy of it. If you do what you hate, you will have a tough time succeeding. Even if your business becomes financially profitable, it will cost your happiness and well-being. Joyful, meaningful, fun, and fulfilling work is far easier to devote yourself to.
You should love your work enough to enjoy working overtime and on weekends. Set limits with yourself, and never sacrifice your relationships, exercise, or spiritual practices to build your career. Everything must be in balance to sustain and grow a satisfying business.
