What's your business, and who are your customers?

My goal was to launch a new business every five years. To date, I currently own beMarketing, bePromoting, and 9-one-1 Marketing, all under the beBrands, https://bebrands.biz/ umbrella. beMarketing has been around since 2010 and is a full-service advertising agency that works with small and medium-sized businesses to build their omnichannel advertising approach. While we are digital at heart, we do a ton of media buying, creative design, and direct mail for our clients as well.

Tell us about yourself

I have been operating in the digital marketing space for over a decade, founding beMarketing in 2010. An entrepreneur at heart with a passion for marketing, I have an extensive background in advertising and marketing. Since beMarketing’s inception, I have grown the firm’s digital offerings to include social media, web development, media buying, and search engine optimization. I have led beMarketing to become one of the region’s fastest-growing Digital Marketing Agencies, offering clients a comprehensive digital strategy.

I have built my business on relationships and share my “get it done” mentality with everyone who knows me. I continue to seek and grow new revenue streams, including starting two additional companies, including 9-ONE-1 Marketing which focuses on providing marketing solutions to emergency service providers as well as bePromoting, which is the region’s go-to for promotional and giveaway items. Outside of work, I enjoy playing and coaching soccer, attending concerts and music festivals, following Philadelphia sports teams, and spending time with my beautiful wife and four children.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would say there have been two key accomplishments for me. The first is that we've had the opportunity to be listed on the Inc. 5000 list three times. The second was this past year being named to the Philadelphia Business Journal's top 40 under 40.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The roller coaster ride! There are going to be a lot of wins and a lot of challenges along the way. Keep going! Learn from mistakes, fine-tune successes, and always keep your ears open to advice and coaching. If you're not challenged, you're not growing!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be brilliant at the basics! Communication, quality, speed of delivery, enthusiasm, and accountability are core values at beMarketing. These are the basics of relationship building and delivering a product/service that stands out.
  2. Bruce Lee says it best - "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times." Repetition and practice make you better. You will make mistakes along the way, but it's ok; learn from them and grow.
  3. Get advice along the way. I have two coaches that I lean on for advice, as a soundboard, and to ensure I am continuously growing and building up.
