What's your business, and who are your customers?
We handcraft all-natural bath bombs, shower bombs, and bath salts and donate 10% of our profits to support whale conservation research.
Tell us about yourself
My husband and I both grew up in families that started their own small businesses, and we knew we wanted to follow in their footsteps, but in our own way! We both have a passion for whale conservation, and I am a big advocate for self-care. Taking a bath or integrating aromatherapy into your daily shower is a great, easy way to practice self-care. Plus, you can feel good that you are giving back to an amazing nonprofit, Ocean Alliance!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We are very fortunate to have had an amazing first year in business between our website, in-person events, and wholesale to gift shops. We only started in April 2021, and we are already in about 30 gift shops, including Busch Gardens and SeaWorld!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I think the most challenging part of being a small business owner is that you wear multiple hats! I have to know how to make, wrap, and ship all of our products. I have to take photos of all the products and update our website. I have to run customer service, business outreach, and social media. I have to manage the finances, order the ingredients, attend in-person events, and more! It’s a lot to balance and understand, but it has been a fun journey.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don’t doubt yourself!
- Make friends with other small business owners.
- Find a niche in the market.
