Elevate Careers - Being a Corporate Unicorn
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lasha Murray, Founder of Being a Corporate Unicorn, located in San Antonio, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a Career Coach for Women. Often women don't give themselves the credit they deserve within their career or space to be confident and go after the same opportunities as men. I reignite their inner boss and authenticity to go after their desired career goals through professional development tips and techniques.
Tell us about yourself
I am a servant Leader. In my Corporate Career, I've watched countless women dim their light, wait to be the "chosen one," and count themselves out because they didn't meet 100% of the job qualifications. I was once one of those women and turned my career around doing so as my authentic self. I made it my mission to help other women do the same.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Each time a woman who's leveraged my career strategy or professional development tool or technique comes back to tell me it worked and what job or promotion they acquired, increased salary through negotiation they nailed, or a new opportunity affording them an opportunity to broaden their skillset. When a woman who's allowed their confidence to be reignited and take back their career, I am fulfilled. Each stage, when I present my keynote, Whose Career is it Anyways, and I see women in the audience realize I am speaking to her, I am fulfilled.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Marketing is so hard. I love doing what I'm purposed to do, building confidence, speaking on stages, and helping people reach their potential; however, marketing is not my jam. It is hard to create continued content across multiple social media platform streams with different algorithms.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Know your target audience, have a product or service that adds value, and market that product often to build trust in the audience that will eventually buy what you're selling.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Running a business is hard, but if you serve your passionate purpose and are intentional in that pursuit, you'll reap a reward better than any money can give you; it's self-gratification.
