Spiritual Guidance - BehatiReiki & Apothecary
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Marjorie Reaves, Owner of BehatiReiki & Apothecary, LLC., located in Atlanta, GA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My business is BehatiReiki & Apothecary, where I provide Spiritual Services such as home cleansings, tarot reading, Reiki energy healing, and Spiritual Life Coaching. I also provide holistic products such as body butters, lotions, intention oils, manifestation candles, tinctures, syrups, and more.
Tell us about yourself
I’ve been studying natural remedies and Hoodoo for over 10+ years, but really, my entire life. Taking information from each country that I have lived in, from Japan to the Philippines, and back to the US, from New Orleans, LA to the Gullah Gullah Geechee in South Carolina and the Native American healers here in Georgia and Tennessee.
I started my business to help others as I saw a need to provide spiritual guidance. I first started making my own body butters and oils, incorporating my spiritual methods as well as Reiki into each product I developed, and it pretty much grew from there. What motivates me each day is knowing that I am helping someone in need, whether it is mentally, spiritually, or physically.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is simply being able to grow my business into an LLC while at the same time helping others on a spiritual level. When I started this journey, I never thought it would take off as it did. I grew my clientele, my branding, my inventory, the services I provide to help others, and more. It truly is satisfying to see the happiness in a client's face after I have helped them overcome a problem they've been struggling with. That, to me, is priceless.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is that you front up all of the costs and the reality that you may not see a return on your investment. You work more than the average 9-5 job, as my business is a one-woman shop, so to speak. I manage the inventory, order all of the supplies, manage all of the bookkeeping, marketing, and so much more. Sometimes it's hard to manage the work/life balance, ensuring that I take time out for myself and my family but also have time to help my clients and meet their needs.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be ready to work! Researching a similar business model may be beneficial, and make sure you do your market research to help aid you in your price points if you plan on selling merchandise.
