Tell us about yourself
I always wanted to work on my business because I felt that organizational processes were obsolete. Leaders still have to control and micromanage mindsets, and the work schedule and routine don’t match individual needs. Nobody heard me when I was an employee, so I felt that I didn’t use all my potential. However, the problem was that I didn’t know what business I wanted to have.
Then I moved to Canada and faced the “local experience” issue and being a “cultural match.” So, I decided if I couldn’t get a job, I’ll create workplaces instead for immigrants like myself. In the end, I created a consulting boutique that helps organizations disrupt their way of work, transform their processes, and help leaders change their mindsets.
My motivation is feedback from people who say that the work environment improved after I joined them. They retrospect their old way of work and approaches. They’ve learned something new from me that helped them be better professionals and happy people.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I’ve recently received an award for “A finalist Immigrant of the 2021” in Canada. I helped more than 100 people to elevate their skills and get a job and quadrupled my revenue in 2 years.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Other than Evaluating the situation without knowing all variables, making decisions fast, and firing people, one of the hardest things is leading by example.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Have your mission, vision, and OKRs (objective key results) clear. People are eager to execute, but when there is no clarity, clients won’t trust you.
- Be coachable. Hire self-motivated professionals and learn from them. Also, have a coach. You need a pair of eyes from a distance.
- Experiment, modify, and take failures like blessings in disguise.
