What's your business, and who are your customers?
My co-founders and I developed the BeCoach app 2.5 years ago to help employees transfer content they learned in training and workshops into their everyday lives.
It is important to us that we have a balanced ratio of personal responsibility and impulses from the coach/trainer. The content is fully customized to the style and methods of the coaches, which can create their material or customize database content for themselves. We help them digitize and automate their complete learning journey and build interactive and conditional content that perfectly fits the employee's situation.
Our target groups are HR managers and coaches/trainers who want to implement their content sustainably into their participants' daily work and want to add another component to the learning journey—a digital and, for the accompanying person, a time-saving alternative that is interactive and fun.
Tell us about yourself
As trainers and coaches, we have noticed that participants have left our events very motivated. At the next event, however, they have been able to apply little from the workshops in their everyday lives. Stress, time, and other issues come up here - so a tool for just this point in time has been the only correct solution for us.
The BeCoach app can be used by any coach, trainer, or HR manager. That makes my everyday life varied and confronts me with new challenges and topics daily, which we master together as a team. Learning content, working with experts, and implementing it in a digital tool is the perfect combination for me, and... it helps many people to implement changes and to build new routines in their everyday life.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
For every person who launches a new product, there is one particular moment: the first sale. I remember the first purchase through our website. Everyone was happy and celebrating, and I forgot that I had to take care of all the related tasks immediately.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
When you run a business, two things are difficult for me: Firstly, accept that not all things you have designed for your baby will reach the end user 100% as imagined.
On the other hand, growth is a huge privilege and a great experience, but it brings a new question every time. Processes, capacities, and skills must constantly be developed and adapted in startups with new products.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My most important tip: Find the right co-founders and the right team. We are three founders, and all have very different personalities. That makes it difficult initially but is immensely important for long-term success.
Furthermore, it's essential to stand on stable feet. Find an income opportunity with a prototype or an investor. You can make decisions less dependent on money and thus make long-term decisions.
