The Holistic Time Coach - Becca Rich

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Becca Rich, founder of The Holistic Time Coach LLC., located in Annapolis, MD, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My company is called The Holistic Time Coach. I work directly with business owners and entrepreneurs who are ready to get the time, freedom, flexibility, and joy they started their business for. I’ve combined my engineering background as well as my spiritual, holistic wellness experiences to help my clients in a multitude of ways. I help business owners physically organize their goals, tasks, and schedules more authentically and effectively, as well as shift and heal their mindset around time, work, and rest. All in service to sustainably achieving their business and personal goals with ease and spending their time in a more fulfilling and purposeful way.

Tell us about yourself

I'm an engineer by trade. I worked in a corporate setting in New Orleans, Louisiana, for four years after college until I took the leap into full-time entrepreneurship and a digital nomad lifestyle as a 24-year-old. I also grew up with a dad who was a successful business owner and my grandfather. They both still own their companies to this day.

Before I left the cubicle behind, during my time as an engineer, I kept pushing myself to work harder and do more until I overworked myself so much that I burned out. The pressure to do more, something I learned growing up in an entrepreneurial household and in our productivity-focused society, kept me from being able to spend my time how I wanted to–present with my husband, my loved ones, and myself doing the things I loved to do.

When I physically healed from burnout, I dove in headfirst. I fell in love with yoga, energy healing, meditation, self-development, and living in the present moment. Hopefully, I'll never burn out again. I started to heal from and deprogram the inner voice that tells all of us to work harder and do more.

My professional and life experiences have led me to where I am today. And I became a certified holistic time coach so I could support other business owners on a similar journey.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Speaking to over 1000 people at one time!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Patience! I feel like I've made my entrepreneur journey much more emotionally and mentally difficult than it needs to be. And if I had more patience and trusted that everything would fall into place, then I would've enjoyed it more. I've been working on cultivating that trust and patience for more joy and peace today for the last year, and many things are falling into place because of that.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. There will never be a perfect decision, right answer, path, business model, or magic solution, as much as you might want one. So what should you do? Pause, tune out all the noise and ask yourself what you think is the best decision or path forward. Trusting yourself is such an underrated business skill.
  2. Taking an idea to a successful business requires two things: for you to follow through with what you say you'll do and for people to want, therefore pay you, for your products or services. You can't thrive on half ideas you can't bring to life or that people don't want. Don't overcommit, follow through, build relationships by listening... and everything will come together.
  3. Being a great boss to yourself will take you so much further, faster. I find it super interesting that when I talk to many women business owners, they say they went into business to have autonomy over their schedule or have more time for themselves or their loved ones. However, they become a horrible boss to themselves. They work all the time, they feel guilty for taking time off, and they add so much pressure and stress on themselves. When you're a good boss to yourself, you will be much more motivated, productive, and fulfilled, leading to your success.
