What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a freelance professional makeup artist whose passion and talent is to bring out my clients' natural beauty. An inspired, fun, and professional makeup artist, I specialize in bridal, special events, and just for fun glamour makeup. Tell me where you need me, and I will be there. Whether it is a formal event, a night out on the town, or engagement pics, I can create the flawless look you desire.

Tell us about yourself

My love for all things beauty started with Barbies. I would paint their faces with markers (who knew then). As a teen, I became the "go-to" gal for my family and friends. My passion and aptitude for all things beauty have been a meaningful part of my life and allowed me to express myself by making other people feel as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside. I am motivated by inner beauty!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I was asked to be the makeup artist in 2017 for Nicki Mi aj’s models for her spring collection for the Walmart photo shoot!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the toughest aspects of freelancing life is having a schedule that’s all over the place. You’re either working on overdrive or have nothing to do for hours at a time. There never seems to be any middle ground! Working a steady shift would be nice, but I wouldn’t trade working freelance for anything in the world!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. As a new business, your best friend – and biggest ally – will be to network with other artists, photographers, and creators. Even if you aren’t sure where to start, social media can provide many avenues for you to collaborate with others.
  2. Keep up with trends! You can’t run a successful cosmetics business without following the trends. If you want to be one step ahead of your competitors, then try to be more up to date than them. You can subscribe to various well-known beauty websites to stay updated on their latest products.
  3. Go where your customers are! In this digital era, clients use social media as the major place to find makeup artists and styles! Use various channels to shop. Millennials, who make up the majority of cosmetics fans, can’t be separated from technology. Thus, make sure you make it easier for them to find your brand online.
