Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Whitney Boisvert, owner of Beaucoup Collective, located in Falher, AB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is a brick-and-mortar retail shop featuring products made locally and sourced from Canadian companies. I bring in top-quality items and keep a wide variety of stock. Supporting locals is more important than ever, so let me help you!

Tell us about yourself

I am a farm wife and mother and have been a creative person my entire life. I decided after having my son that working for myself was the best way to have the flexibility and be able to maximize family time. I opened Beaucoup Collective in July of 2021, and it has been wonderful!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment has been working my way up to be able to afford rentals at a larger storefront in a larger town. I am excited to welcome customers into my shop and take a lot of pride in building Beaucoup Collective from the ground up.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things I have found is the want to strive for perfection. I want to grow and continue to be better, but I am being patient and allowing myself time to establish and grow successfully. I have had immense support from family and friends, and that has really aided in this as well.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I’d say that tip number one would be just try it! There is no way to know if you will have success without trial. Tip two is to have confidence in yourself as a business owner. You are wildly capable, and bottling yourself up to fit the mold everyone wants for you will do no good. Tip three is to allow yourself grace. There will be trials and failures, but the only way to succeed is to persevere through hard times.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I am so thankful for the community support and the welcoming I have received. Without that, I wouldn’t be where I am.
