What's your business, and who are your customers?
I train dogs and help people who have pups with behavioral issues.
Tell us about yourself
Dog rescue and seeing all those dogs with behavioral issues in shelters is what got me thinking about training and what motivates me every day to keep training and looking for solitons to get those dogs homes and to keep dogs with behavioral issues to end up in shelters.
It was not until I got my second dog that I got first-hand experience with what it means to have a behaviorally challenged dog. This made me reach out for help, and I got a great training foundation for my dog that allowed me to now take him wherever I go. This experience motivated me to continue learning about training, and I was mentored by one of NYC’s premier trainers, Blake Rodriguez, and eventually joined his team. In 2020 I started my own business, 3for3 Dog Training.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Starting a new business during the pandemic and keeping it going through tough economic times primarily by getting referred by my alumni clients to new clients.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Time management and making time for yourself.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Starting a business can be overwhelming. It was important for me to learn to pace myself and find a sustainable balance between work and private time. Make sure you’re passionate about what you do to sustain motivation for the long run. Don’t get stuck doing the same thing but keep learning and growing for your clients and yourself.
