Sip < Chip < Dip < REPEAT! - BarFly Foods

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Bryan Fagerholt, founder of BarFly Foods, Ltd., located in Highlands Ranch, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

BarFly Salsa is a fresh salsa option currently selling wholesale to breweries, tasting rooms, and restaurants. The recipe is bright and very well-balanced, and the flavor is enhanced while enjoying one of Colorado's famous microbrews. Our customers are fun-loving people looking for a snack option to pair with their favorite drink.

Tell us about yourself

During the pandemic, my wife and I saw a need for enhanced fresh snack options at the local breweries and tasting rooms we frequented. She convinced me to start mass-producing my homemade salsa and marketing to these local businesses. My joy involves producing the product and watching people enjoy something I created.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

It's an amazing feeling to take an idea and turn it into a reality. Starting a business, and working continuously to grow, is a very challenging and rewarding experience. I have experienced a tremendous amount of personal and professional growth in the first year of BarFly Salsa's existence.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I think discipline in your routine is critical as a business owner. Sustainable growth can only occur by attention to detail. Those actions can be difficult and demanding, especially when you have another full-time career and family responsibilities.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. The first step is always to believe in yourself.
  2. Find something you love to do, and then sell the $h!* out of it.
  3. Hire a coach or find a mentor group.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

BarFly Salsa is passionate about hunger issues in our society. A portion of monthly sales is donated to the Food Bank of the Rockies. The salsa also makes a wonderful simmering sauce for Taco Night!
