What's your business, and who are your customers?

Barbell Logic is a white-glove online strength coaching service. Our team of Professional Barbell Coaches works with men and women who have decided to invest in their physical well-being through strength training. When a client joins Barbell Logic, they are immediately paired with a coach who is right for their experience level and goals. They connect via video for each workout. Their training is totally individualized for their history, resources, and goals and adaptable to their busy lives. Our clients are strong and resilient. Our coaches are professional and knowledgeable. And our team is driven and empathetic.

Tell us about yourself

I started as a coach with Barbell Logic in 2016. I have been coaching since 2009, starting with CrossFit. I was so excited about Barbell Logic, founded by Matt Reynolds, because it connected me with a huge team of coaches all over the world and connected all of us with clients all over the world. Our ability to coach more clients than I ever could on my own, in-person, increased exponentially overnight.

Knowing the difference between what it feels like to be strong versus what it feels like to be weak is what makes me invest daily in this business. We want to teach more people to coach and provide a service to our clients that will allow them to experience life with strength, especially as they age.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our biggest accomplishments have been to unite a huge group of strength coaches and bring individualized training that actually works for so many people.

The movements in Barbell Training are more complicated than in machines or endurance training. It requires expert instruction and form guidance. The fact that we can help people achieve consistent form and program workouts for them that continue to drive strength improvement REMOTELY is huge.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Patience with priorities. We want to connect with as many people as we can. And there are so many ways we can go about it. But the funnel with this type of training is relatively long. Trusting in our efforts and our chosen priorities is a challenge.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be very clear on your own voice and mission. Get specific.
  2. As soon as you can, delegate tactical tasks to someone else.
  3. Don't do it for other people. Do it for you.
