Machine Learning & Automation - Banx Engineering
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rudy Banks, CEO of Banx Engineering LLC, located in Rockville, MD, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
At Banx Engineering LLC, we teach machines to speak data. We help our industrial automation and manufacturing customers extract key information to accelerate decision-making processes. We take a holistic approach to understanding customer processes and goals, then implement hardware and software solutions to meet desired outcomes.
Tell us about yourself
Like many other entrepreneurs, my journey was not linear. I spent 15 years in the manufacturing industry, holding engineering and management roles. I always had a deeper desire to run my own business for the freedom and flexibility it would provide. Over my corporate career, I tried several ventures. In 2017 I took the big leap. I wanted to bring my experience and professionalism to the marketplace. My motivation is delivering results and solving problems that even my customers dismiss as “impossible.”
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Learning who I really am and demonstrating resiliency through tough times. Every day presents new challenges but having faith and confidence to overcome them is paramount. I remember when my dad fell ill, it was one of the hardest experiences of my life but being in control of my business allowed me the freedom and flexibility to be there for him.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing as a business owner is not simply focusing on the things I love to do. My passion, skill, and mindset are why I am in business. On the other hand, networking, marketing, and compliance ensure business continuity.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- When starting a business, get really clear on what problem you are trying to solve and why you are the one to get it done.
- Learn every aspect you can of your business, from how services are rendered to finance/accounting compliance and marketing.
- Do not grow too fast. You will make mistakes, and it is easier to recover from mistakes at a small level vs. facing devastation at a large level.
