What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a South Asian jewelry business that specializes in bangles. Our clients are mainly females with South Asian backgrounds from the ages of 20 - 60 who attend various events, parties, and weddings.

Tell us about yourself

I grew up in Toronto and realized that there was a gap in the South Asian market when it came to bangles. There was no organized way to purchase them in the styles, colours, or sizes I wanted. That's when I decided to start my business and where then Banglez came from. Being in business since 2006, we have built trust in the market, and it feels good to know we are helping others connect to their background through decorative jewelry and colourful bangles.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As a business owner, there have been many ups and downs - especially during recent challenging times. I am proud that I have grown as a person and business owner to understand my clients and better serve them to adapt to their needs.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

It can be to let go of mistakes. Understanding that mistakes are part of the journey and growth of your business is an integral part of being an entrepreneur.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Ask for help! Look for local resources or guidance amongst your peers and community.
Resilience is key - there is no way to make it without sticking with your concept/idea.
Love the process - as cliche as it sounds, you will never make it as a business owner if you don't embrace the entire process - including the failures.
