What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a certified nutrition coach. I work primarily with women who want to overcome binge eating and deal with emotional eating in a balanced, nonrestricted way through a nondiet approach.

Tell us about yourself

I found myself unemployed several years ago and decided it was time to pursue something I am passionate about. So I made the decision to go back to school and get a diploma in nutrition science. I am a recovered binge eater and suffered from an eating disorder most of my life, and I know I am not alone.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Just being able to change lives. So many women I work with come in with negative self-talk and limiting beliefs. They feel poorly about their bodies and their food choices. I help them learn how to love themselves and nourish their bodies properly.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Finding that work-life balance. As a business owner, I am anything but a 9-5 operation.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be patient. So many times, we don’t see results right away, and we give up. Keep going.
  2. Consistency, whether in your social media marketing or your email marketing, make sure you are consistent.
  3. It’s ok to ask for help, we want to do it all for whatever reason, but it can be hard to find that balance. I have collaborated with local businesses to create programs together and have hired out some of my tasks.
