What's your business, and who are your customers?
Babydoll Hair Salon specializes in scene-stealing looks from hair colors and highlights to cutting-edge haircuts, hair extensions, and styling for any occasion. Other services available are perms, conditioning treatments, Brazillian Blowouts, and waxing. Tell us about yourself
I am a licensed cosmetologist and makeup artist, certified in airbrushing. I strive to provide a warm and friendly personality and atmosphere to help you escape the everyday hustle and bustle and time out for a little "you" time. I am impacting the hair and make–up industry with my forever–evolving techniques and continuing education. Working with people to get creative with looks from natural and playful to daring and dramatic. I love creating hair and makeup that plays up with your own taste and style. There is no greater satisfaction than to observe a client who feels beautiful.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
In the past 11 years, I've grown my establishment from 350 square feet to 2700 square feet. Going from just employing myself to employing over 15 staff members.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The challenge of meeting the needs of each employee as they are all different in what motivates them, what challenges them, and what makes them happy.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure you have all your ducks in a row: accountant, lawyer, etc.
- Write down your goals each and every year and look back on them.
- Know when too much is too much, and don't be afraid to say no.
