What's your business, and who are your customers?
We own and operate a custom cake business as well as offer classes on various forms of cake, cookie, and cupcake decoration. Our customer base is the good people of the Cave Creek, Phoenix, and Scottsdale areas.
Tell us about yourself
Over 30 years ago, Bonnie’s mother said, “Let’s go do something fun,” and they took a cake decorating class together. After one class, Bonnie was hooked. With three little ones at home, she began making cakes for all the celebrations. Bryanne grew up with a love of decorating, thanks to her mother and grandmother. In 2011, after years of home baking and teaching for Wilton, AZ Cake Shoppe was born.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Making cakes for repeat clients for years and watching their children grow up. Consistently selling out our classes and having students come back for multiple classes. And working with my family.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Staying on top of social media.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do what you love.
- Don’t pay attention to nay-sayers.
- Build community over competition.
