Create Lifelong Memories - Aymara Peruvian Kitchen
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Caroline Beaurin, Co-Founder of Aymara Peruvian Kitchen, located in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a restaurant consultant and restaurant owner of Aymara Peruvian Restaurant. I started with my restaurant consulting business, supporting established restaurants across Los Angeles, and then I opened my own restaurant in Los Angeles in partnership with my husband.
My consulting customers are restaurant owners seeking help for their businesses, and at my restaurant, they are families, locals, business lunch crowds, and corporations.
Tell us about yourself
What got me started is my love for food, travel, and hospitality. I received two Master's degrees in hospitality and business in Europe and then moved to America, where I grew my expertise through hands-on consulting and restaurant start-ups. I love when families get together to enjoy a good meal.
By making great food for the people I love, I am creating lifelong memories for them and their families. It makes me so happy when I help a chef or restaurant owner accomplish their dream through my strategic planning and consulting support.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is having started my consulting business in a foreign country and helping people make their American dream come true. I am very proud of making all my knowledge of the industry available for people to better their restaurant operations and improve their quality and brand.
I myself started my food business as a ghost kitchen during the pandemic and was able to move to a brick-and-mortar location. We did this throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and the restaurant has been a living example of resilience during such an unprecedented time. I am now looking to expand and get a second location.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Being a business owner requires every part of me. From getting the right support staff to scaling the business while maintaining quality and authenticity, as the business owner, I am responsible for all these strategic decisions, and the success or failure of a decision is entirely up to me.
Tactically, asking for help, gaining access to capital, and the daily balance of personal and professional life is a constant challenge of being a business owner.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Trust yourself and your instincts; you know what is best for you and your business.
- Resilience: continuing to work hard in the face of adversity will pay off.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Don’t be discouraged by difficulties we may encounter, and there is always a solution. Ask for help (friends, family, local business association, coaching...)
