What's your business, and who are your customers?
I import fruits and vegetables from Mexico into the United States. We are dedicated to bringing the best products into the supermarkets.
Tell us about yourself
I am a Latina woman, the owner of a produce business, and a full-time mom. I am the founder and sales director of my own business. What first got me started in my business was my love of avocados. My grandma was my inspiration, and she introduced this love of avocados into my life. They aren’t just delicious but also nutritious, and that makes me feel like I am not only selling just any product but a healthy product. What motivates me from a business perspective is that I love that I’m selling a superfood. And from a personal perspective, I find motivation in my family.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
It is very difficult to specify one single fact, but I feel that being able to grow my company organically and responsibly is my biggest accomplishment as a business owner.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I think it is finding a balance between my personal life and my business. Being a business owner is very demanding, and also is being a mother, so being both has been very challenging.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- I have learned that in order to have some success in any business, you must have perseverance and discipline.
- Building strong relationships with your customers, growers, and team is especially important.
- When starting a business, you have to give your 100% and be the best at whatever it is that you do.
