What's your business, and who are your customers?

Consulting for independent automotive repair shops whose owners desire to grow and be more successful. Teaching the business side of the business.

Tell us about yourself

I began working in a repair shop in 1990 with nothing but a dustpan and a broom. I learned how to turn wrenches to become a mechanic/technician. From there, management found I had a gift with customers making them feel at ease, so they promoted me to counter sales. It was at that point I knew I could go higher. I held management positions with various companies, from Service Manager, Store Manager, Group Manager, and District Manager.

My motivation is to win. But not just for myself, but more so for my family. My children need to see on a daily basis that if you put in the work to succeed, even with tough times and want to give up, it all does pay off. It's not totally about money. It's about my self-success.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment was signing my first client.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing I have come across is the "let downs." Sometimes you will have those obstacles that make you ask yourself, "can I still do this?". That is when you have to persevere.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Plan your time.
Truly find a business coach to help guide you through the entire process.
Understand that not everything will go smoothly.

In planning your time, you have to know that start-up or re-modeling your current situation is going to take a great deal of time. Long days and nights are going to happen.

Everyone needs someone to assist them who has been there. Being a business owner is not easy, and it's good to be able to have a professional to bounce ideas off and push you to succeed and achieve your goals.
