Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Aubrey Hoffman, Founder of Real Peel Juice & Nutrition, located in League City, TX, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Real Peel is a wellness company that focuses on juicing and Gastroparesis. Our juices were created with Gastroparesis in mind, but we serve anyone in the Houston area who is looking to create healthy habits and incorporate juice into their daily lives. The Gastroparesis portion is more specific. I work personally with clients who have been diagnosed with Gastroparesis and help them find relief and different ways to manage their Gastroparesis.
Tell us about yourself
Well, the entire reason Real Peel exists is because of my Gastroparesis diagnosis and the lack of knowledge and solutions from doctors. I needed to find some type of healing from the everyday suffering, so I started juicing and started to find some relief. I then dove head first into schooling and researching different methods of healing. Fast forward a few years, and I now have my Gastroparesis completely under control, so my goal is to help as many people suffering the same get theirs under control. They follow similar protocols that I went through, and when they start seeing progress and feeling hopeful that their lives will be normal again, there is no better feeling.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My first client was my biggest accomplishment 100%. I offered up a complimentary 1-on-1 program so I could test it to see if it would work. This woman had been suffering for years with no relief and withering away, literally. We had been working on the program for about 2 months, and she called me, and with complete elation and shock, she realized she had not had pain for the previous few days and was able to eat normally. She couldn't even believe that she was feeling this way. These days, I have had many go through the same thing, and it's always amazing, but that very first one was so special to me.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I think for me, the hardest thing is time management. I wear so many hats, and I am working on that, but in the beginning, it's necessary to do. So, then the struggle moves to being okay with delegating out tasks.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
It's hard but so rewarding to see all of that hard work blossom. So, my three tips would be:
- Just start. Don't wait for things to be totally perfect to get started; otherwise, you never will.
- Make a plan every morning. I write out my to-do lists and then prioritize them so that I know what I need to focus on.
- Don't force everyone to be your customer. Not everyone will mesh with you, believe in your product, or want to spend the money, and that's perfectly okay.
