Change Your Thinking - Attention to Living

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tami Satterfield, Founder of Attention to Living, located in Louisville, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I provide trauma therapy as a neurolinguistic hypnotherapist. Using neurolinguistic programming and cutting-edge brain science, I can help my client fine-tune past life experiences for a better outcome. This means less fear which translates to reduced anxiety. I utilize somatic release, parts integration, and energy medicine as my top three modalities. Though I am trained in many techniques, and sometimes utilize other methods if that's in my client's best interest. All my processes are dynamic, organic, and creative. This means that while we do talk for greater clarification and to set the mental mind at rest, the bulk of the work is happening in real-time and as it unfolds. Not by prescription of cause and effect: do this, and that will happen. But instead, by creating the cause that will initiate the desired effect.

Tell us about yourself

I was drawn to help others because others helped me. I like to call such individuals, Benevolent Intermediaries. These are the people who show up to save us. Sometimes they are with us for a great length of time, and sometimes, only a brief encounter. Without that support, I would have simply been absorbed into my ancestral trauma, particularly as it was playing out in my childhood. I would have become part of the familial wound.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would say that my biggest accomplishment as a business owner, which is very different from my biggest accomplishment as a healing practitioner, would be having a reputation that provides me with good referrals from other professionals, a flow of referrals from my clients, and established clients returning for help when the need arises. Having fostered that kind of reputation remains important to me and does guide my business decisions.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Pacing one's self through busy times and trusting that the lulls are not meaningful other than to be opportunities to focus elsewhere.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Get clear about what it is you want to accomplish. Know your value in the marketplace and what differentiates you from your competition. Establish a healthy relationship around asking for and receiving money.
