What's your business, and who are your customers?
Ashia J Artistry is a place where beauty, comfort, knowledge, and personalized attention combine to create a totally memorable and rejuvenating experience. As an Esthetician, I create a youthful and natural appearance with aesthetic services tailored to my client's specific needs. I specialize in enhancing their natural beauty with Skincare Treatments, Makeup Applications, Eyelash Extensions, Waxing, and more!
Tell us about yourself
My name is Ashia Jones; I am a licensed Esthetician and Cosmetologist. My journey started in 2007 after graduating from Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology. As a cosmetologist, I started working in booth rental salons and transitioned from behind the chair to working with Sheen Magazine and Nairobi Hair Care as a Makeup Artist for Bronner Brother Hair Shows. I found my love for skincare and makeup artistry while working behind the scenes with the models doing their makeup.
Today, I am the co-owner of Lets Create Magic Studios with my husband, Jonathan Jones. Our studio is a photography and makeup studio where we create magic together.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is maintaining a studio during the COVID-19 pandemic. When my husband and I stepped out on faith in May 2020 and opened our studio, we had no idea that we would be faced with operating in the midst of a global pandemic. Since then, God has blessed us to continue providing photography and makeup artistry services to our clients in an environment that embodies excellence and an exceptional customer service experience.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is having patience. You will be faced with dealing with the unknown. Mistakes are inevitable, and you will never know what to expect. The most important thing to remember is to never compare yourself.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
First, have faith! Believe in the impossible and develop patience.
Second, create a plan for your business, have an open mind, and never doubt your abilities!
Third, invest in yourself, gain knowledge, and create business relationships!
