Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in arts but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nikhil Satija, Founder of Artoniq | Value Decor Canada Ltd., located in Brampton, ON, CA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

‘Artoniq’ is a team-based, handmade home decor venture that focuses on small-batch and high-quality artistic products. Our aim here at ‘Artoniq’ is to transform every space (interior/exterior) into a piece of art. The delicately handcrafted terracotta products are brought to life with intricately worked details to inspire conversations and creative excellence.

Our clients are those intrigued with a creative sense of design and who love to cultivate the idea of changing the world with the joy of art. When someone comes in asking for more, it brings us utter happiness to be part of their delight.

Tell us about yourself

Being a nature lover and trying to be creative made me start this venture out of nowhere. In the beginning, it was just a thought that became an idea very soon and eventually turned out to be a full-fledged business model.

Hoping for the best, I started this journey having no prior knowledge about the products but with a lot of enthusiasm. All the dots connected one by one, and finally, Artoniq was created. It has been a wonderful but adventurous roller coaster ride throughout.

The idea of putting smiles on people’s faces keeps me motivated to bring out unique and artistic pieces of art to life. It feels delightful to know when people appreciate your products and keeps you on your toes just to get going.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest achievement has been connecting with these beautiful people and building this community. It has been a thrilling experience to connect with people at a personal level and understand their needs. As a business owner, it feels amazing to put everything out there for people to see for which you have worked so hard. More importantly, never backing out during tough times has been an accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Sustainability and Responsibility. These things are hardest to deal with as a business owner. You must be ready to take any role simultaneously to get things done. It can be frustrating sometimes, but the passion for the work keeps me in the right frame of mind. The biggest accelerator for me has been positive thinking throughout, which I feel is most important to run a business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The best advice for any new business owner or entrepreneur will be to keep faith in your idea. If you keep the faith, there will be wonders. No business idea is small or big. It’s your thinking which makes it small or big. Think big and achieve big; that’s the mantra behind running a successful business. If you’ve sorted your idea, everything else will fall in place to start the business.

While running the business, be very patient. It takes a lot of courage to be patient, and all the good things happen with time. It takes time to get out there and show people what you believe in.

Once the business is up and running, never be reluctant to take chances to grow it. Always keep the best interests in mind for the business and grab every possible opportunity that comes your way without doubting your abilities.
