Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey as an artist, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Veronique Pierre, a multi-talented artist, animator, actress, TV host, actress, and visual artist from Quebec, Canada.

Tell us all about your business...

I am an actress, a producer, a figure skating choreographer, and a visual artist. The main composant between all of these hats? Movement. As a visual artist, I create out of meditation and movement (physical, emotional, energetic). My customers as visual artists are mostly young adults, ready to invest in original art to upgrade their homes and environments. As a figure skating choreographer, I specialize in theatrical expression, and I generally work with athletes on the competitive side who desire or need to improve their artistic performance.

What's your background and motivation to get into the solopreneur life?

In skating, I love seeing athletes flourish as new artists on ice. The expression goes further than cute faces. It is a state of being, as the state of mind. As a visual artist, I simply love connecting to the creative flow of life.

As a business owner, what does success ultimately mean to you?

I always have been told to focus on one thing only. I decided to write my own rules and feel so fulfilled to embrace all of my talents.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Keeping up with technology demands as you age.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run or grow a business today?

Be unique in the sense of being yourself. Have a plan, but allow yourself to derail from it once in a while. Say yes to go see and hear every opportunity. Don't necessarily say yes right away to everything, but go and see. I would have said no to one of the biggest paying and fun contracts I had for five years if I did not accept to meet with this proposer.

What are some of the things you put in place to maintain a healthy work/life balance and to keep it all together?

At least one day a week without touching anything work-related and try even not to do technology.

Who are some of your favorite entrepreneurs and best business resources/books?

No favorite particular ones. Generally when they are human-oriented. Book: The Dip by Seth Godin

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Take it one step at a time. Work well. Be a person of your word. I believe much more in working well than working hard.
