A Journey From One Artist to a Whole Community - Art2Arts

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in fine arts but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Michelle Gibbs, director of Art2Arts, located in Portsmouth, Hampshire, UK.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are an online art gallery selling original art by independent artists from around the world. Our customers are a mix of art collectors and those looking to transform their homes with something unique.

Tell us about yourself

I too am an artist, the beauty of our site is that it's predominately run by artists. It started when I built the site to sell my artwork, I then began contacting other artists to join and it grew from there.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We've just hit 1000 Trustpilot reviews which is rewarding as we have a score of 4.9. We pride ourselves on customer service, that, and all the amazing artists we have.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

It's always hard to switch off, unless I go on holiday I really can't switch off, even then it's not 100%.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

1. Do what you love.

2. Don't give up when it gets tough.

3. Offer great customer service.
