Art Tampa Bay has the only "Splatter Painting" rooms in the Tampa Bay area. We are located in Clearwater, FL. Come and create your own Jackson Pollock masterpiece. We also have step-by-step art instructions that will guide you in creating a one-of-a-kind piece of art in a relaxing and fun environment. We provide the tools, materials, and everything needed, including step-by-step instructions for you to create a unique piece of art, charming gift, or custom home décor.
Tell us about yourself
I first started teaching in 2018 and fell in love with watching others create beautiful art. I teach at the Dunedin Fine Art Center, and just the look of my students when they come in saying, "I can't draw a stick figure," and they have the best artwork in the class is priceless. My students encouraged me to open up my own art center.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I believe my biggest accomplishment is opening up my brick-and-mortar business. 60% of Black Female owned are self-funded. I took a chance on myself. It was scary coming from a non-college background. I manifested this from sheer will and hard work. I just recently hired a disabled veteran to work with me, and it feels great!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things is being diplomatic and not rushing into anything. I also think that I get tired of so many hats I wear, from janitor to customer service I get tired.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
First tip: Get a mentor! I got a mentor from SCORE. They are a non-profit that helps everyone or anyone with starting a business and can guide you to the right people you may need to help your new or existing business. It feels good to have someone you can run ideas by or give you suggestions.
The second tip is to get on social media!.. Not only can you attract customers for free, but you will be able to network with other business owners in your area.
The third tip is to get a website: I am not affiliated with WIX, but I have been using them for years, and the easy format and templates allow you to have your website up in one day. If you are selling products, then I would suggest Square: they also have an easy format, and the shopping cart works great.
