Take Time to Make Your Soul Happy - Aromabee Wellness

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jade Soon, founder of Aromabee Wellness, located in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I offer unique aromatherapy products in mostly sustainable glassware using all-natural, plant-based ingredients. The people who buy them are clients looking to improve their general well-being, whether it's a relief from pain, relaxation and sleep support, or opening the heart chakra.

I also provide Aromatherapy Massage and Reflexology to release tension, stress, muscle aches, and pains and calm the nervous system. I'm based at Hälsa Spa in Kitsilano, Vancouver, BC.

Tell us about yourself

I've always been interested in natural remedies as opposed to Pharmaceutical remedies (there's a time and place for this, though!), so I studied Holistic Aromatherapy in class at Langara College. I wanted to provide products that people can find benefits from that are non-toxic and safe. We are often exposed to toxic ingredients in certain products that we don't realize are harmful to us in the everyday drug store.

I'm motivated to take the next step and create more products. I'm also honoured when a customer tells me they've bought a certain product and found it useful in their life. Someone recently told me the Galene Roll-on has helped them sleep!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would have to say I am grateful for having my products accepted at three locations in Vancouver: Hälsa spa (www.halsa.ca), Craft Maison (www.craftmaison.ca), and Rise Up Marketplace IG: @riseupmarketplace. All of the owners and staff have been incredibly supportive of my business and helped me promote them, as well as my massage services (at Hälsa Spa).

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Knowing and learning trends of the market. Aromatherapy is getting really popular, so there is a lot of competition. Also, essential oils and carrier oils have a shelf life! So it's important to manage inventory.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be passionate about your ideas, do something you love and believe in.
  2. Have a supportive network- word of mouth is the best marketing.
  3. Believe in yourself and stay positive.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I'm grateful for my friend Zoe of Umlaüt Jewellery, whom I have been vending at markets with. She has been supportive and inspiring with her business.
