What's your business, and who are your customers?

Apus Media is a full-service video production company specializing in corporate videos for mid-size and large companies that want to capture the human aspect of their story and connect with their audience.

Tell us about yourself

As a kid, I knew I wanted to own a business. I was discouraged from doing this throughout my early career, and then my husband got laid off, and I saw an opportunity for us to start a family business. And so we formed our company Apus Media. What motivates us each day is that our business supports our whole family, and so we have to succeed so that our family succeeds.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Staying in business for almost ten years. My kids are raised with someone in the home with them.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing as a business owner is that you have a lot of pressure on you to produce. And sometimes, that can be daunting when you need a moment to figure out your next steps.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Find a support system. Entrepreneurship is lonely, and you need a lot of support. I would recommend getting a business coach or mentor early in the business. Dive deep into creating a morning ritual to get to start your day.
