Tell us about yourself
As a child, I always had a fascination for food and cooking. After graduating from university, I decided to enroll in culinary school and started my career. In 2006 I was a private chef to a former NHLer, and he moved from the city that I live in. That is when I decided to start Aphrodite Cooks.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The biggest accomplishment I have made as a business owner is surviving a pandemic after building a new kitchen that features a full teaching kitchen and commercial kitchen.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things as a business owner is understanding and living through the roller coaster of business ups and downs.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Ask questions, do your research.
- Listen to those around you.
- Keep learning.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Owning your own business can be the most rewarding career of all, but with the accolades comes criticism, and you must be able to listen and take both in.
