Sales and Marketing Strategies - Anvictus Communication

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Marc Angelos, Founder and CEO of Anvictus Communication, located in Berkeley Heights, NJ, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Sales and content training for creative entrepreneurs.

Tell us about yourself

I spent 30 years as a sales executive on the Wall Street trading desks in NYC. I sold highly advanced A.I. trading software. When customers didn't understand it, I launched a weekly newsletter on LinkedIn explaining it back in 2016. Seeing how my content advanced my sales career, I quit finance in 2020 and launched a content marketing firm. That quickly grew to include sales training for entrepreneurs because many founders don't have a strong grounding in content and sales.

Today, my organization has two divisions:

  • content strategy for FinTechs
  • sales training for creative, small-biz entrepreneurs

I launched Anvictus for freedom. As such, I am motivated to help empower entrepreneurs to do the same. By giving them the sales and marketing skills they need, I help them create their own financial freedom. And unfortunately, sales and business skills become harder to acquire in a hybrid work world. So in my mind...I am out here saving souls. Not kidding.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Replacing my former Wall Street income with my own enterprise. As I see it, if ANYONE has ever done it...then you can too. No matter what "it" is.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Time management.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get clear on your vision by using the "GOST method."
    GOALS (big vision)
    OBJECTIVES (mile-markers along the way)
    STRATEGY (the roadmap)
    TACTICS (weekly execution of tasks)
Take the time to plan it out.
  2. Operationalize your effort with systems, processes, and people, especially in your personal "weak link" areas. Don't build ANOTHER trap of trading your time for money. Systems are the way to avoid that pitfall.
  3. Forgive yourself fast and re-start quickly when you make the inevitable mistakes. You never lose...unless you quit. Ignore the naysayers. Just keep rockin'.
