Modify Your Beliefs About Money - Anu Kankarjärvi

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Anu Kankarjärvi, a Financial mind coach and health promoter based in Masku, Finland.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I have two passions money mindset/wealth and health, so my business is also divided into these two categories. I help women entrepreneurs improve their money mindset so that they can improve their money situation and start to live the life they have always dreamed of. Then I help people to make healthier and wiser choices with their diet and lifestyle altogether so that they can stay healthier longer. Earlier I hadn't had any courses or coaching in English (only in Finnish, since I live in Finland), but at the moment, I've started to gather a group of women entrepreneurs who want to join me in these morning meetings called Sunny start of the day. It's only 25 mins per meeting from Monday to Thursday, but I promise you, it will make a change in your life!

Tell us about yourself

I live in the southwest of Finland, I'm 42 years old, and I'm happily married with two teenagers. People always tell me I'm such a positive person, and I am pretty proud of myself for how I, most of the time, see the cup half full (rather than half empty). I guess I'm not "a regular adult" or even a regular businesswoman since I love to waste time with my children, climb trees, jump into the water from heights (my record is from 5 meters), go ice-skating, etc. My favorite thing to do is swimming in the lake, also during the winter, when the water is icy cold! When I started my business, I did a completely different thing from what I do now. Actually, I can thank my children that ever became an entrepreneur. They were small, and I didn't want to take them to daycare, so I started a daycare business myself.

When the children grew older, I worked with health products based on aloe vera, and at the same time, I got TOTALLY into mindset work and the self-development field. I became a Goal Mapping practitioner, and I've studied things you don't learn in schools (even though you definitely should!). Fast forward, here I am, helping especially women entrepreneurs to take their minds and lives in full control of their own and to start living their lives so that they can be, do and have whatever they have wanted to be, do and have.

I have always had the urge to understand things, and now I feel it's my calling to help other women entrepreneurs really understand the things that have the biggest effects on their lives. It is my priority that I always explain things so that the customer really understands what it is about. I'm motivated by change, both my own and my customers. I guess one of the biggest realizations in my life has been that I have the power to change my life, and so do you.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I think my biggest accomplishment is that I even started my business. When I was younger, I always said I'm never start my own business because it's too risky. I wanted to have a job where I'd" get stuck" so that I could work there until I retired. But here I am! I have been an entrepreneur for 12 years already! And even though it hasn't always been easy at all, I never gave up, and that's also one big accomplishment!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I don't want to say hard because not many things are hard after you learn to do them. :) But for me, the most challenging has been all the money (and other) blocks I've had in my unconscious mind. For one, I have believed I have to work HARD for the money, and that's not true at all unless you want it to be true. I have learned and also proved to myself that money can also come easily and effortlessly.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Work with your mindset and possible unconscious blocks. When you clear the blocks and know how to use your mindset so that it benefits your business, you can go far!
  2. Try to find someone (a mentor or a coach) who has already done what you want to do. Ask for help and be ready to pay for the help too. The investment you make in getting good advice will come back to you.
  3. Remember to rest too, and take time to do the things you love to do!
