What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is real estate. My customers are buyers and sellers. USA Homes & Resources LLC specializes in assisting sellers who are in distress and/or who need to sell their homes quickly. For example, a seller may be trying to avoid foreclosure, or the homeowner may be going through a divorce, and they need to sell quickly. We help distressed homeowners find a solution to their real estate problems.

Tell us about yourself

I recently embarked upon this exciting and challenging career change. A friend of mine introduced me to real estate investment in the early part of 2022. I've since learned that it is a male-dominated occupation with high-income earnings and many ways to grow your business. I am learning something new every day about real estate. I spent many years working in health care, and the things I learned in that industry are a lot different from what I'm learning now. However, I'm still able to apply the people skills I used in health care in real estate, particularly since my clients often times are in distressing situations.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is overcoming fear. Having the courage to transition into a very different profession after 23 years of working in a comfort zone. This requires a willingness to change and learn new things.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being an entrepreneur involves taking on financial risks. Sacrificing that "every other week" paycheck can be scary. To me, this is the hardest thing about becoming a business owner.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

1. Do not let fear stop you from pursuing your dream of becoming a business owner.
2. Do not let money stop you from pursuing your dream of becoming a business owner.
3. Invest in a mentor or coach to help ensure you're on the right track towards correctly setting up your business and implementing good business practices.
