Overcome Your Challenges - Annie Delre

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Annie Delre, Owner and CEO of Annie Delre, Certified Text-based Wellness Coach, located in Escondido, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a national board certified Wellness Coach for women who are struggling to overcome their challenges & needing some serious accountability to reach their goals. Challenges include struggling with accountability, motivation, confidence, stress management, relationships, communication, boundary setting & more.

Tell us about yourself

I'm originally from NJ and now live in CA. I moved out to CA about seven years ago by myself & had to learn quickly how to afford the East Bay Area & navigate life (at least in the beginning) without a support system. I started my business because I want to make people's lives easier than mine, especially my sisters'. My sisters, who are twins & 18 years old now, are my motivation for everything. I want to be the person to them that I needed growing up. I want them to have a positive role model and see what someone is capable of when they set their mind to something & are willing to put in the work.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment (so far) was earning my master's degree in Integrative Wellness Coaching, as well as getting certified in multiple modalities: Life & Success Coaching, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Time Technique, ThetaHealing and Clinical Hypnotherapy. This was a huge accomplishment because most coaches don't have a master's degree in coaching & it's important for me to be an expert in my field.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner, at least for me, is social media. I think there are definitely benefits of using it (sharing your message, keeping in touch with loved ones), but for the most part, it makes me cringe. My advice is: be authentic, post only original ideas, and focus less on your followers/likes, and more on the content you're providing your audience.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Ask for help. There are countless people who want to help you! If you're on a budget, start with all the free content. Something worth noting: you don't need to listen to/believe/follow everyone's advice. I love the quote: Don't take criticism from someone you wouldn't take advice from.
  2. Be kind to yourself. Not that it's impossible, but I've never seen overnight success. You're going to face challenges, mess up, and maybe even have to take steps backward - and that's actually a good thing because that's how you learn. Having a difficult customer may not seem like a blessing at the moment, but how well/bad you handle it will be a great lesson for the next time. Don't plan on perfection; plan for forward movement & be solution-focused.
  3. Always be learning. Even after graduating with my master's, I am constantly learning from leaders in my field. There are no excuses not to educate yourself when you have access to the internet at the tip of your fingers. Don't have a phone, computer, or internet? Go to the library! Again, no excuse.
