Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Annabelle Dura, founder of Annabelle Dura Alignment & Purpose Coaching, located in Austin, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm an alignment & purpose coach, which means I focus on helping people feel more alive and whole so they can express their unapologetic truth - whatever that means to them. I find that usually, my clients are looking to develop a deeper sense of self-love and self-trust, find real work/life balance, get in touch with their emotional world, or create healthier interpersonal relationships, which are all needed to live your purpose.

Tell us about yourself

I LOVE my work, and if I'm honest, I've been curious about purpose and healing from a very young age. I'm endlessly inspired by my clients and their breakthroughs the human experiences, and I love sharing what has worked for me with others and exploring different perspectives - hence why I became a coach.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Learning to love myself. Learning that I can be sad and still have valuable insights to share. I can be human and still have a successful business. I can feel peace and ease and still be productive. I used to have a really toxic relationship with work, and I was constantly beating myself up and burning out. This shift has changed my entire life, and these lessons have provided serious healing for my clients too.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I often say that entrepreneurship is one of the best self-growth journeys you could possibly experience. When you care deeply for your work, it's hard not to take "rejection" (or what you might perceive as rejection) personally. To show up again and again and again even when you feel silly, or it gets hard. In short - Commitment.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Give yourself time to make mistakes, experiment, to find what works and what doesn't. Setting a specific amount of time that you'll go "all-in" on your business is a great way to "run experiments." For example - I'm committed to promoting ONE offer (my 1:1 coaching package) for 6 Months. After six months, I'll re-evaluate and decide if I want to try another offer or keep promoting this one.
  2. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. (Having a coach in your corner is SO beneficial!! I have 3!!)
  3. Everything is learning.
