Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and professional development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Angela Buttimer, Co-Founder of Atlanta Center for Mindfulness & Well-Being, located in Atlanta, GA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am the co-founder of Atlanta Center for Mindfulness & Well-Being, where I offer keynotes, corporate events, counseling/coaching, and contribute to the media as a psychology expert. My customers are corporations, conferences, associations, and individuals seeking personal and professional development.
Tell us about yourself
I started enjoying mind-body practices in my teens - meditation, exercise, journaling, etc. I saw the connection early on that well-being impacts performance in every area of life. I was motivated to share this with others so that they, too, could live their best lives. I actually started as a teen designing workshops for fun. I was fortunate enough to be exposed to personal development speakers like Louise Hay, Tony Robbins, Wayne Dyer, and Deepak Chopra, and I was very inspired to follow in their footsteps.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is lighting the path ahead for others. I see myself as a sort of lighthouse helping people move off stuck and go from good to great. I love to uplift others and am very gratified when they tell me about their triumphs!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
You have to find a strategy to work ON the business while you're also working IN the business. Time is a precious commodity and must be scheduled consistently to do both. It's also imperative to keep learning to stay on the cutting edge of an ever-changing world.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- It's a marathon, not a sprint. Think big but start small.
- Be mindful of who you surround yourself with. Limit time with critics and naysayers. Seek out those who inspire and motivate you.
- Be a lifelong learner. Stay on top of your game, not just professionally but personally too. A well-rounded person makes the best entrepreneur.
