Where True Wealth Is Wellness - Andrew Le
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Andrew Le, founder of Wealth of Wellness: Massage Therapy & Personal Training, located in San Jose, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I'm a jack-of-all-trades massage therapist and a master of a few! My background in personal training, martial arts, anatomy, and postural alignment allows me to give you a great experience in terms of healing a variety of physical and mobility issues as well as reducing stress and pain! I'm looking for people who are dedicated to their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Tell us about yourself
I'm a jack of all trades professional who got started in massage through martial arts. Starting with those experiences, I realized that I am fascinated with the human body and its connection with the brain and how that impacts our lives and those around us.
Along the way, I realized that I never wanted to be part of the rigid, autocratic, and stifling corporate rat race. Thus I decided that the best way to combine my desire to have a fulfilling and financially successful life was to venture out on my own. Therefore, I am able to pursue my own dreams as fast (and as deeply) as I wish.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Watching people regain their movement in a body part that they had thought previously was impossible.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Learning the ropes - by yourself. Often times when you make mistakes, you have to take the consequences by yourself.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- "Fortune favors the bold" - Even if you don't succeed, the most important part is that you at least try.
- Be willing to make mistakes - I'm still going through this myself, but one thing that made me better than my parents was the willingness to make mistakes and to learn from them. That's how humans learn anyway, right? Same thing when it comes to business.
- "Your value as [as a business] isn't what you want; it's what you're giving [to your customers]." I find that if I focus on the money, I never get what I want, or oftentimes I get it in a very weird and convoluted way. I find that when I focus on the quality of my work (as is my industry), the money will come.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
You must have the desire to be an entrepreneur in order to even have a chance to be successful at it. Not even success, just a chance at it. It has to be innate - no one else can make the decision for you. After that, you must marry your desire with discipline. Desire may get the fire going, but discipline will keep it going. These are two halves of the same coin. Entrepreneurs start with either one and must learn the other side. Find out which side you're good at and start learning the other side.
