Create a Vision of the Life You Want to Live - Andrea Winter
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Andrea Winter, owner of Andrea Winter LLC., located in Savage, MN, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
As a Health and Wellness Coach, I help women get their spark back and design a life that lights them up by helping them connect with their inner wisdom, live with intention, take care of their bodies and turn their dreams into reality.
I invite my clients to look at the eight dimensions of wellness (physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, occupational, financial, and environmental) because everything is connected. We work to discover where their inner spark may need some kindling and where they may be about to burn out. Then we create a vision of the life they want to live, their healthiest and best life possible. It is a co-creative journey – a re-discovery of what it means to be alive using customized lifestyle strategies inspired by the ancient wisdom of yoga and Ayurveda.
Tell us about yourself
I know first-hand what it means to be out of sync with your body and life. In my early 30s, I climbed the corporate ladder, finished graduate school, volunteered at my kid’s activities, and tried to do all the things a career woman, mom, wife, daughter, and friend does. I was there for it all, but I was really just going through the motions. I was not intentional with my time or energy. I was disconnected from my inner wisdom. I stopped taking care of myself. And my body began to revolt.
Having spent 20 years as a director with a large healthcare company, I sought out the medical advice of many, but I wasn’t getting the answers I needed. I didn’t want a lifetime of medications. I knew there had to be a better way. And then I went to a yoga class. For the first time in my life, I felt my spark, my inner connection of body, mind, and soul. I was hooked and quickly enrolled in yoga teacher training. By the end of the program, I felt such a calling, a sense of purpose, that I knew I had to find a way to share what I was learning with others. I continued my yoga, Ayurveda studies, and Health & Wellness Coaching. And now, I am honored to share these teachings and guide others on their own path to health and wellbeing.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My great accomplishment is seeing my clients succeed. It is magical when you are able to witness a woman coming home to herself, connecting with her own power and wisdom, and transforming her life.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest part of being a solopreneur is not having a built-in team to work with. As I transitioned from the corporate healthcare world to running my own business, I missed the day-to-day interactions with colleagues. Fortunately, I was able to connect with a network of other women business owners. We are each serving a different industry, but the struggles of going solo and starting your own business are the same. This group not only shares resources but provides support and encouragement.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
I share these tips with my clients as they are applicable to beginning any change in your life, including starting a new business.
- Just start! Don’t let perfection be the enemy of good. Especially when starting a business, you can’t wait until everything is perfect, or you’ll never begin. Accept “good enough” and move forward.
- Seek out support – Find others who are focused on the same goals. If you don’t have a group like this, then create your own!
- Stop comparing yourself/your business to others, especially when you are just starting. Most likely, those you are comparing yourself to are much farther along the path than you.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Growth and transformation are not about becoming something or someone else. It’s about remembering all that you are and stepping into your own light with strength and grace. When we are connected to our light, when our spark is strong, we have a clear sense of purpose, focused, and intentional in our thoughts and actions. For many solopreneurs, we are our business. Clients choose us because of who we are. The more authentic you are in sharing your individual strengths and purpose, the more clients will be drawn to you.
