Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Andrea Olson, Owner, and Designer of Go Diaper Free and Tiny Undies, located in Asheville, NC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Hey there! I'm Andrea Olson. As a published author of five books, a proud mom of six children, and the founder of a seven-figure company, Go Diaper Free + Tiny Undies, I've made it my mission to simplify the process of going diaper-free for hundreds of thousands of parents worldwide, right from birth. Through Go Diaper Free, I've created a thriving community of parents and trained over 300 coaches to spread the Go Diaper Free message across the globe. When moms asked for tiny pottying supplies to fit their little ones, I filled the need by expanding the business to include Tiny Undies with specially designed undies, trainers, and potties for the tiniest bottoms.

As a driven "mompreneur" it's been a journey of overcoming odds and obstacles, but I'm proud to say that I've achieved my dream of running a successful business without having to leave my babies and return to work outside the home.

Through the years, I've developed and proven online business strategies that have become the cornerstone of my success. Now, I'm on a mission to empower other mamas to do the same. With my business training and consultation, I help fellow mamas create wildly profitable online businesses that provide the flexibility and freedom they need in their lives.

It's an incredible privilege to share my knowledge and experiences, and I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to support and inspire other moms in their own entrepreneurial journeys.

Tell us about yourself

My own entrepreneurial journey all started with my first baby. As a new mom, I found myself searching for a resource that could simplify the process of pottying my baby. I eagerly began soaking up all the knowledge I could find & before I knew it, I was sharing what I had learned with other mamas during mommie yoga classes. It sparked something within me to help other parents do the same!

Inspired to create a simple pamphlet to guide others in learning to potty their babies, my passion (and Virgo nature) took over, and that humble pamphlet soon transformed into a comprehensive 180+ page book. Flash forward several books later… I have been dedicated to supporting other parents for over a decade, not just with going diaper-free but reaching their entrepreneurial goals as well!

Each day I wake up excited to make a difference in the lives of parents and their precious little ones, and that is what continues to drive me forward on this incredible entrepreneurial journey.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Building a thriving community through Go Diaper Free has been a fulfilling achievement. Seeing parents come together, supporting and learning from one another, has created a powerful network of like-minded individuals who are passionate about early potty training. Knowing that the impact of my work extends beyond my direct reach is incredibly rewarding.

However, my biggest accomplishment goes beyond numbers and statistics. It lies in the fact that I have achieved my dream of running a successful business without sacrificing time with my babies or working outside the home. This balance between entrepreneurship and motherhood is something I hold dear and advocate for other mamas to achieve as well.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Being a business owner is not always easy: setbacks, budget challenges, a constantly changing market, phew!... but I absolutely love it because I'm a lifelong learner at heart! Whenever I encounter obstacles, I try to approach them with excitement and curiosity. Each hurdle I overcome becomes a valuable lesson that propels me forward. It's this love of learning that keeps me motivated, resilient, and always ready to take on new challenges. Whether it's diving into books, attending workshops, or taking online courses, I'm always learning something. It helps me work through tough problems and sparks my imagination for new ideas so that I can better support other mamas through their journeys too.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Follow your passion. When you're passionate about what you do, it fuels your drive and helps you stay motivated even when things get tough. Your passion will show in your work and attract others who share your enthusiasm.
  2. Stay flexible. Business moves so fast! So be ready to adapt and change your strategies as needed. Embrace new ideas, ask for and listen to feedback, and be open to trying different approaches.
  3. Surround yourself with support. Connect with other entrepreneurs, seek mentors, and join communities where you can learn and grow together. I am so thankful for all the valuable guidance, collaboration, and support I have received from those around me.

You got this, mama!
