Weddings, Events, Lifestyle - Andrea Eppolito
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in event planning but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Andrea Eppolito, a luxury wedding planner and event designer based in Las Vegas, NV, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
My client base is intentionally small, as I specialize in creating extraordinary experiences for people who lead extraordinary lives. My clients are high-net-worth individuals and luxury brands that want to create experiences for their guests and customers.
Tell us about yourself
I fell in love with the events industry when I was 13 years old. Every decision I've made with regard to my education and my career path was intentionally designed so that I could ultimately open up my own wedding and event planning business. My clients are very special people, and at any given point, they have access to the very best that life has to offer. My job is to bend the universe to my will, making the world a perfect place so that the experience I am creating for them will stand out as better and more important than every other day in their life. The fun of what I do is that I get to imagine a world that doesn't yet exist, and then I bring it to fruition by working with incredibly skilled artisans.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The fact that I can support my family and our lifestyle while being an artist who creates beauty and magic for others is quite remarkable.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The uncertainty and instability that comes with being on your own, but that is also what makes entrepreneurship so exciting.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Education is the great equalizer. If you are not learning or honing your skills every day, you are dying.
- Social media is about conversation and community, not about clout. Be thoughtful and smart about what you post - but always lead people back to your own website. That is the only digital real estate you will ever truly own.
- Get a coach or create a board of directors. Building a business can be lonely, but it also gives you tunnel vision and prevent you from seeing things from a different perspective. Have people around you that you trust and respect. Let them show you your blind spots and react accordingly.
